Macklemore will headline three European arena benefit concerts under the Free Palestine banner in October, with all proceeds going to organizations supporting Palestinians and additional performers and U.S. dates still to be announced.

The September 24th announcement puts the first show at Dublin’s 3Arena on October 26th, followed by Accor Arena in Paris on October 29th and OVO Arena Wembley in London on October 30th. The concerts are being presented as “Macklemore & Friends,” making the still-unannounced guest lineup a central part of a tour assembled only weeks before its opening night.

Macklemore said he spent the previous week contacting musicians who have publicly expressed solidarity with Palestinians and were willing to participate despite possible professional consequences. Because the concerts came together quickly, he acknowledged that artist schedules and other details were still being finalized when the tour was announced.

Twelve organizations working across humanitarian aid, healthcare, education, advocacy and community support will receive proceeds from the shows. More cities are expected to follow, including dates in the United States.

The speed of the rollout gives the Free Palestine Tour an unusual live-music story behind it. Less than two weeks before the announcement, Macklemore was still scheduled to open additional U.S. stadium dates for Ed Sheeran. He is now organizing his own arena events around the political advocacy that became central to the dispute over his place on that tour.

Three Arenas on a Short Timeline

The initial run is small in number but not in scale. Dublin’s 3Arena, Paris’ Accor Arena and OVO Arena Wembley are established arena venues rather than clubs or theaters assembled for a modest last-minute benefit.

The Dublin listing puts Macklemore at 3Arena on October 26th, with doors scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Paris follows three nights later before the initial European stretch reaches London on October 30th.

Ticketing begins almost immediately. Presales are scheduled ahead of a September 30th general on-sale, leaving less than a month between tickets becoming widely available and the first concert. Dublin tickets have been listed at €67.65 and €77.20 before service charges.

The London date is officially billed as Macklemore & Friends, an important detail because the shows are not being presented as conventional Macklemore dates with one predetermined support act.

No additional performer had been confirmed when the tour was announced. Macklemore instead described an active process of contacting artists, discussing schedules and determining who could participate in individual cities.

That leaves the musical structure unusually open. Depending on who joins, the concerts could range from Macklemore headline sets with guests to broader multi-artist benefits in which collaborators receive substantial stage time of their own.

Macklemore performing live in Dortmund, Germany.
Twelve Organizations Will Split the Proceeds

The charitable structure is equally broad. All proceeds from the Free Palestine Tour will be distributed among 12 organizations:

Anera

Glia

Gaza Soup Kitchen

Taawon

HEAL Palestine

Palestinian Youth Movement

Middle East Children’s Alliance

Jewish Voice for Peace

Medical Aid for Palestinians

Institute for Middle East Understanding

Palestine Children’s Relief Fund

UNRWA USA

The groups cover different forms of work rather than operating as a single type of charity. The announced beneficiaries include organizations focused on food and humanitarian assistance, healthcare, education, advocacy and organizing.

That setup separates the concerts from a benefit designed around one recipient. Ticket revenue is intended to move across several areas of Palestinian support, with the final proceeds divided among organizations serving different functions.

Macklemore had already made a separate financial commitment before announcing the arena dates. After his removal from Sheeran’s remaining U.S. shows, he pledged the $1 million he said he earned from the Loop Tour to six organizations supporting Palestinians.

Several beneficiaries described the importance of both the money and the attention generated by that pledge when the donation was detailed earlier this month.

The $1 million commitment and the Free Palestine Tour are separate. One redirects money Macklemore says he earned from the Sheeran dates; the other creates new fundraising through ticket sales from independently organized concerts.

“Hind’s Hall” Already Linked Music and Fundraising

The October concerts extend a connection between Macklemore’s music and Palestinian fundraising that predates the current tour dispute.

He released “Hind’s Hall” in May 2024 amid university protests over the war in Gaza. The song takes its name from Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old Palestinian girl killed in Gaza, whose name Columbia University protesters temporarily gave to Hamilton Hall during their occupation of the building.

Macklemore pledged proceeds from the recording to UNRWA USA, making the song itself a fundraising vehicle rather than keeping his advocacy separate from his music. “Hind’s Hall 2” followed later in 2024 with Palestinian rapper MC Abdul, Palestinian American singer Anees and additional collaborators.

That material eventually entered his performances on Sheeran’s Loop Tour. During the September 5th MetLife Stadium concert in New Jersey, Macklemore performed “Hind’s Hall” and made pro-Palestinian statements from the stage.

His removal from the remaining U.S. dates followed. Macklemore said several venues had threatened not to host the concerts if he remained on the bill. Tour promoter Messina Touring Group said venue objections forced the change, while Sheeran later maintained that removing Macklemore was not his decision and that he had tried to find a solution with the venues.

The dispute also drew criticism of Macklemore’s past rhetoric, including from New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, whose company owns Gillette Stadium. Macklemore has rejected accusations that his criticism of Israel is directed at Jewish people. The competing accounts and venue objections were documented as the tour dispute developed.

For the new benefit concerts, “Hind’s Hall” is more than background. The song already links Macklemore’s recorded music, live performances and fundraising, making it an obvious piece of the story even though no October setlists have been announced.

The Loop Tour Fallout Spread Beyond Macklemore

Removing Macklemore did not end the disruption around Sheeran’s U.S. shows.

Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga, Sheeran’s touring band, subsequently withdrew from dates on the Loop Tour. What began as a disagreement over one support artist therefore expanded into a broader reshuffling of the touring lineup.

Sheeran addressed the controversy ahead of his September 19th Philadelphia concert. He described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “catastrophic and unjustifiable” while saying he wanted his concerts to remain places where people with differing views could come together through music. His comments and the subsequent artist withdrawals were documented at the time.

The episode also exposed the complicated authority surrounding major stadium tours. Headliners may exercise substantial creative control, but promoters manage tour logistics and venues retain the ability to refuse or cancel events.

Venue intervention over a support artist’s political speech is considerably less routine than cancellations involving weather, safety or production issues. An examination of the dispute found relatively few obvious parallels involving venues forcing an opening act from a major tour over political controversy.

Macklemore’s response removes that particular conflict from the equation. The political purpose is no longer an element introduced during another artist’s stadium show. It is part of the billing and fundraising structure from the beginning.

Macklemore performing at Papillons de Nuit in 2022.
The New Shows Make Their Purpose Explicit

There is little ambiguity about what audiences are buying tickets to support.

The Free Palestine Tour is being presented as a series of benefit concerts centering Palestinians, with the beneficiary organizations named in advance and participating musicians being approached partly because of their previous public positions.

Macklemore has described Israel’s conduct in Gaza as genocide in his music and public statements. Israel rejects allegations that it is committing genocide, and international legal proceedings concerning those allegations remain ongoing. The tour announcement reflects Macklemore’s position; the concert name itself makes that advocacy explicit.

That clarity also changes the decision facing potential guest artists. Appearing on a bill called the Free Palestine Tour creates a more direct public association than performing at an unrelated concert where another musician independently makes political statements.

Macklemore acknowledged that dimension while describing the invitations. He said he was contacting musicians who had already spoken publicly about Palestinians and were willing to use their platforms “regardless of the consequences.”

For that reason, each guest announcement could become a meaningful part of the rollout rather than ordinary support-act news.

The Guest List Could Define the Tour

For now, the Free Palestine Tour has three confirmed arenas, 12 beneficiary organizations and a lineup that remains unfinished.

The venues establish immediate scale, while the “Macklemore & Friends” billing leaves the actual musical shape of the nights unresolved. With only weeks between the announcement and Dublin opener, artist availability may differ substantially from one city to another.

North American dates are also planned, but no cities, venues or timetable have been announced. The current European rollout indicates that additional cities, including in the United States, will be added in the coming weeks.

The short turnaround creates practical limitations that do not exist for a normal arena tour announced months in advance. Artists need to clear schedules, venues need available dates and production has to be assembled around a bill that is still changing.

Macklemore has been unusually open about that unfinished state. Rather than withholding a completed lineup for a later promotional reveal, he announced the concerts while many of the conversations with potential participants were still happening.

That makes the next round of announcements unusually important. A handful of opening acts would leave the project looking largely like a Macklemore benefit tour. A larger group of recognizable performers could turn individual dates into broader multi-artist events.

What is already settled is the framework. Dublin opens the run October 26th, Paris follows October 29th and London closes the initial stretch October 30th. Proceeds are designated for organizations supporting Palestinians, with additional artists and U.S. dates still to come.

Less than two weeks after losing his remaining place on the Loop Tour, Macklemore has three arena bookings of his own. What those nights sound like will depend heavily on the artists who decide to join him.
